I am passionate about the education K - 12 and higher. All three of my children were educated in the public school system. I support education that works best for families and prepares children for a life of success and happiness.
As an educator at the University level, I am concerned about the cost of higher education and the amount of student loan debt that students are accruing. I have ideas how to decrease debt accrued and ways for students to pay off student loan debt that benefits both the work force and graduates.
Regardless of party affiliation, I support a partnership between legislators to work for a better Kansas for all.
I support holistic care for patients of all ages. My campaign goal is to "nurse Kansas to a better state." I have dedicated my time to completing my Master's in Nursing with an emphasis as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a concentration in Psychiatric Mental Health. For the last 4 years, I have instructed nursing students in the classroom and clinical setting.
I support Veterans and Veterans' Administration benefits. I joined the Air Force as a laboratory technician in 1982, completing 4 years and leaving the Air Force as a Sergeant. I rejoined the military in the Navy in 1990, completed my Bachelor’s degree at Wichita State University, obtaining a commission the same day as graduating from nursing school. I served at Charleston, SC, Bethesda Naval Medical Station, Rota, Spain Naval Hospital, Cherry Point, NC, Camp LeJeune, NC, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Whiting Field, Florida. I retired in 2008 with 21.75 years.
I support a Balanced Budget and responsible spending for Kansas.
